MEMBERSHIP
Before applying for membership, individuals should plan to attend as many meetings as possible to get to know the club in general and its members. Sponsorship of two MHDPC members is required with the submission of the membership application. Once an application is submitted to the club, a reading of the application is done at the next general membership meeting and the applicant is encouraged to attend. A second reading is done at the following general membership meeting and after any discussion, a vote is made on membership.
There are four types of membership available in our club. If you are under 18 years of age, you can apply as a junior member, or you can be part of a household membership. If you are over 18, you can be a regular member, an associate member or part of a household membership:
Individual –Regular or active membership–Open to all persons over 18 years of age. Allows for voting privileges. More information about membership pay be obtained when attending a meeting and or obtaining a copy of the MHDPC Bylaws. See the links below.
Household – Shall consist of two adults living in the same household. Each of the two adults enjoys all club privileges including the right to vote and hold office, and each is entitled to one vote.
Associate – Open to all persons over 18 years of age who otherwise meet the requirements for active membership. Associate members shall pay dues and are entitled to all club privileges except voting and office holding (offered to individuals who live outside of the club’s area; also offered to individuals who live in the club’s area but are not active). Because they are ineligible to vote, Associate Members will not count as part of the quorum and Associate Members shall not engage in discussion of a motion on the floor. An Associate member may become an active member by written request submitted to the Board for approval.
Junior – For those under 18. A junior member is not required to participate in the normal Club governing meetings but may participate in other club activities. They are required to pay dues but may not vote or hold office. Junior membership is $10 per year.
Membership dues are $20.00 per year for individual and associate members and $30.00 per year for household members.
